The bedroom is easily the most important part of the house when it comes to directly improving your quality of life. It’s the last thing we see at night and the first thing we see in the morning, c’mon folks!
Last time we covered some ways to spruce up your bedroom and mainly to make it healthier. From adding oxygen- producing plants to decreasing the amount of light that filters in at night, there are many ways to improve the quality of life you enjoy in your bedroom. The best thing is that many of them are extremely inexpensive, such as organizing the cords from your devices.
Today we wanted to continue in the same direction, showing you some more inexpensive ways to improve life in your little habitat.
1. Start simple. The bedroom is your throne room, ladies and gentlemen. It doesn’t have to look like a king’s chamber here though, so keep it simple. If not, you might end up with something that looks like your grandparent’s bedroom. Try going with a lower bed to change things up, a platform frame adds interest. Keep it about knee-high for a little extra style.
The bed is the visual focus of the room, and will naturally add interest to the surroundings. You don’t have to overdo it here, ladies and gentlemen. Keep the bedspread simple yet beautiful, striped or bold colors for the men and floral print or candy colors for the girls.
2. Rock the rug. Especially in rooms that have hardwood floors or tile instead of carpet, a rug is an easy way to add a little elegance to your bedroom. It’s also very practical. Your feet stay warm when getting in and out of bed, and no more fuzzy wuzzies from the floor sneaking into the sheets with you.
Rugs are a great and timeless looking addition to any bedroom, and add a little more interest and gravity to the bed area of the room without looking like it’s trying too hard. Check your local outlet stores, you’ll probably be surprised at what you can find and at a great price. Also try looking online, Google Shopping is a great place to start.
3. Love your lighting. Another simple way to add some modern elegance to your room is by making a little investment in the “lighter” side of things. Throw out those old bedside lamps with the boring paper shades. The lighting isn’t even all that fantastic, am I right?
Try going for something that moves with you. One of those simple metal desk lamps with the long, poseable arms would look great and be relatively inexpensive. Or even better, install a wall-mounted lamp with a dimmer switch for a little added romance.
So as we are starting to see, the bedroom can easily be spruced up with just a few fresh ideas. And it doesn’t even have to break the bank! While some investment is required, using our good sense and shopping around can save us a ton of money.
So get out there and get to improving this oh-so-important part of your home! Until next time!
